China, Oman Willing to Expand Cooperation in Oil, Gas Fields

BEIJING China and Oman expressed their willingness to expand their cooperation in petroleum and gas sector, said state councilor Wu Yi after meeting with Mohammad bin Hamad al-Rumhy, Omani minister of petroleum and natural gas, here Tuesday .

China is one of the huge importers and consumers of oil products in the world and its technologies are fairly advanced in oil exploration and drilling, said Wu, adding that SinoOomani cooperation in this sector should include technological exchanges.

China welcomes Oman participating in development programs in west China particularly in the pipeline project to transfer natural gas from west to east of the country, Xinhua quoted Wu as saying .

Al-Rumhy expressed his government's satisfaction with fruitful cooperation with China in oil and gas sector.

The Omani minister and his delegation are here at the invitation of Shi Guangsheng, minister of foreign trade and economic cooperation, who met with them earlier on Tuesday, but there was no news reaching here about that meeting.
